These are some shots of the work in progress.
We painted a backing as well for outside the entrance.
Below a photo shop mock up of the backing.
As it turned out, we were unable to get our REAL gas pumps and we had them printed on vinyl and mounted on foam core.
They actually worked quite well in the background.
Below a link to a short Youtube video.
We were shooting on location here in toronto at the Waverly Hotel at Spadina and College. It was decided to shoot at the actual location for 2 days and then to move the crew back to the studio where we would build a section of the set.
The first step was to get some detailed photos and measurements. The Key Scenic painter and Construction Manager met me at the location and we did our research getting measurements and matching colours.
and situate it within the studio. Crew access and fire regulations are taken into account.
Plan 1 below.
The set went up very quickly.
All in all, a very believable set that matched the location.
The finished GCI set.
In addition I had a large New York Tanslight left over that we put to use as well.. The end result was quite good and this year’s PD students really worked hard on the set.
As I write this, 10 different films are being shot on the same set.
Some screen captures from a short film we made. The film can be seen here.
A selection of photos of a set that we build for Hallmark’s Mistletoe Over Manhattan Christmas movie. A small portion of the Empire State Building’s observation deck. We took some liberties with the design but in the end it was quite successful. Photos by Adam Kubiw. Set Construction by Mike Edmund, Mike Nesbit, Paul Sibley, Josh Heisie, Adam Kubiw and Kelsey Tremblay.
This would be coupled with a floor plan as well.
